Club Membership Recognition

Purpose

The Coolum Beach Surf Life Saving Club has a strong strategic objective of recognising and rewarding members service to “our” club and the surf life saving movement. This summary aims to provide a clear understanding of both Coolum beach surf lifesaving club’s and surf lifesaving club’s reward and recognition process. The purpose is to;

  • Increase the awareness of available recognition awards
  • Outline the requirements and criteria of the awards
  • Outline the nomination process for SLSA awards
  • Outline the process of Coolum beach SLSC awards

Submissions

The process established through the honours and awards committee for nominating for eligible awards is;

  1. Members will be responsible for completing their own applications through their members portal. Given the nature of the submissions and detailed information required assistance will be available through the admin team to help with completing correctly.
  2. Documented service records to be provide with each submission can be sourced from surf guard, member’s portal. club annual reports (back to season 1991). Earlier service records prior to season 1991 will require a stat dec from the club as evidence.
  3. Members will then make their own submissions which will then require surf club approval for the submission to formally proceed. Nominated members will be submitted to the honours and awards committee and MC for approval
  4. Once approved the admin team will then formally approve the pending submission.

Presentation

Award recipients will be presented were possible with their awards at either the club’s annual presentation night or the back to Coolum day. A register of all Coolum Beach SLSC award holders will be displayed within the club.

COOLUM SPECIAL SERVICES AWARDS SUMMARY

Coolum beach SLSC has a proud history of keeping “our” beach safe which is a testimony of the dedicated service of all members over the years. In recognition of members service to Coolum beach SLSC, special long service awards were established. These awards recognise long serving members which are separate to SLSA awards.

Guidelines and endorsement

All members to be eligible for the Long Service Awards based on length of active patrolling and general service for Coolum Beach Surf Life Saving Club. The awards categories will be defined as,

  1. Gold long service award : based on 20 years of service
  2. Silver long service award : based on 10 years of service

The awards will be assessed by the HAC at the end of each patrol season for eligible members;

  • Based on length of active patrolling and associated service for Coolum Beach SLSC
  • At the end of each patrolling season, the honours and award committee shall formulate a list of candidates eligible for special long service awards, by utilizing the club and branch membership database;
  • The eligible award recipients
    • Will be presented with their awards and pins at the club’s annual dinner and back to Coolum day
    • Will receive distinguished annual membership cards based on the award level.
    • Names will be displayed on the club’s service awards honour board.
