Surf Sports
Surf Sports is an integral part lifesaving, aimed at enhancing the skills of our members. The club has competitive teams in a wide range of disciplines including beach, water, surfboard riding, surf-boats, IRB, surf rescue and march past. Getting involved in surf sports is a great way to improve your lifesaving skills, maintain health and fitness and get involved.
Surf sports at the club is coordinated by the Surf Sports Officer through the section leads to help coordinate the various disciplines.
The club run and internal Club Championship as a lead in to Branch, State and National level carnivals.
Members wishing to compete must be active, proficient, financial and must also have satisfied their patrol obligations as defined by Surf Life Saving Queensland (completed their allocated patrols and have documented 25 patrol hours within the calendar year from the 1st January to the 31st December. This requirement is less for Reserve Active and Long Service patrolling members, please contact surfsports@coolumsurfclub.com.au if you require any clarification).
Members who do not complete the minimum required patrol hours during this period will not be eligible to compete and any subsidies may be reviewed.
Surf Sports Competition
Surf Lifesaving competition is available across the following disciplines ;
- Beach and Water Events (eg Surf Race, Rescue Tube, Paddle Board, Ski, Sprints, Flags, Ironman, etc.)
- Patrol Surf Rescue
- Still Water Pool Rescue
- Surf Boat Rowing
- IRB Racing
- Surf Board Riding
- R and R (Rescue & Resuscitation)
- First-Aid, Patrol Competition and Champion Lifesaver
- March Past
