QLD Observers Award
QLD Observers Award requirements
As an Observer, you will be able to supplement your First Aid or ART awards on patrol with the skills and knowledge to actively patrol the beach and assist in the surveillance of beachgoers. The Observers Award is also required for Nipper Age Managers.
What qualifications or prerequisites do I need?
- Qualifications - No specific qualifications
- Prerequisites - Must be a minimum of 13 years old on the day of the course commencement
Course outcomes:
- Surf awareness and skills: Identifying rips, different types of waves, patient recognition
- Communication: Signals
- Beach management
Duration
Each course schedule can vary depending on trainer and facility availability but takes approximately 1.5-2 hours to complete. Specific schedules will be issued for each course.
