Training Courses Information
We offer training courses either in house, in conjunction with other Sunshine Coast SLS clubs, or through SLS Sunshine Coast Branch. Throughout the year courses are scheduled subject to volunteer upskilling requirements and the availability of our trainers.

Courses we offer include:
Bronze Medallion
The Bronze Medallion course provides participants with the skills and knowledge of patrolling and surf awareness in order to be able to participate in lifesaving operations. (Life Saver)

Surf Rescue Certificate
The Surf Rescue Certificate provides participants with the skills and knowledge of basic patrolling and surf awareness in order to be able to participate in lifesaving operations and act in the role of Water Safety Personnel.

Silver Medallion - Beach Management
The Silver Medallion Beach Management provides participants with the skills, knowledge, and experience required to manage a lifesaving or lifeguarding team in emergency and non-emergency situations. (Patrol Captain)

First Aid Officer
The First Aid course provides participants with the skills and knowledge to manage emergency first aid situations until professional medical support is available.

Advanced Resuscitation Techniques Certificate - ART
The Advanced Resuscitation Techniques Certificate (ARTC) teaches the principles of airway management and oxygen aided resuscitation.

Radio Operator
Provides participants with the skills and knowledge to perform basic communication practices.

IRB Crewperson
Provides participants with the skills and knowledge to effectively crew an Inflatable Rescue Boat (IRB) in surf rescue operations.

IRB Driver - Silver Medallion
The Silver Medallion IRB Driver provides participants with the skills and knowledge to effectively drive and manage an Inflatable Rescue Boat (IRB) in surf rescue operations.

4WD Induction
The QLD 4WD Induction course provides participants with the skills and knowledge to effectively drive on the beach and tow equipment.

SSV Operator Induction
The purpose of this course is to help you develop the skills and knowledge to safely and effectively operate an All Terrain Vehicle (ATV). The course involves a number of incorporated practical activities to develop your operating skills. To ensure the safety of operators and bystanders, you are required to successfully perform each practical task before being permitted to continue on to the next activity - SSV Operator Certificate
Observers Award
As an Observer, you will be able to supplement your First Aid or ART awards on patrol with the skills and knowledge to actively patrol the beach and assist in the surveillance of beachgoers.
