Pulse Lifesaving Development Program 2023

Published: February 15, 2023

This program extends lifesaving knowledge and skills in a hands-on, scenario-based learning environment with representatives from Clubs across the coast.

Here’s what Jake had to say about the program:
"Had a brilliant time, I learned a lot through the guest speakers and the practical exercises we ran.
It was really interesting to hear about how other clubs organise their patrols, how they practice scenarios and has given me some great ideas to bring back to Coolum.
The simulated scenario we ran through on the Sunday morning was such a great experience. It was a simulated vehicle explosion with multiple victims, all with varying levels of injuries requiring us to triage, prioritise and start treating.
Probably the biggest takeaway I had was just how much responsibility we have as volunteers on the beach. It’s easy to think that you’re just a volunteer and trying to help where you can, but when something goes down, the public are looking to us and have a huge amount of trust and faith that we will be able to help.
I highly recommend the course and would love to attend again in future!"

Thanks to these members for representing the club and broadening their skills.

Support Coolum Surf Club

Not ready to become part of Coolum Surf Club but still want to help?

It takes a lot of money to run a surf lifesaving club; from the equipment needed on the beach (vehicles, boards, IRBs, first aid kits, defibrillators etc) to administration and training to facilitate patrolling.

So if you can't join us, support us through one of the following options.

Coolum Beach SLSC Nippers

Does your child want to become a Nipper?
