President's Welcome 2023-24

Published: July 28, 2023

Hi Lifesavers from Coolum SLSC
A note of introduction for people who may not have yet met me, Ernie Burrows.
As of our recent Annual General Meeting,  I was elected President of the lifesaving side of the Coolum Beach Surf Life Saving Club.
I would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank our outgoing President Ian Norman, for all the dedication, work and effort that he has put into the club over his many years- not only as President, but Treasurer, and a life-long patrolling member.
Thanks also go out to you, the many members who have supported me over the years as a trainer, assessor and patrolling member. I'd also like to give special thanks to the many members who attended the Meeting and supported me in my bid to become President - a role I am humbled by and honored to undertake.
After many discussions with members about various topics leading up to the election at the AGM, it was highlighted to me that members were wanting some aspects of the club to change. This is quite a task but one that I will lead with the support and governance of the Lifesaving Management Committee.
It is also a task that needs you as a Coolum SLSC member, to support and cooperate with.
Like all members of our club, we want Coolum SLSC to continue to shine on as the "Heart of Coolum."
So, if you see me around the club, feel free to come up and have a chat about- anything!   Your ideas are always welcome.
See you on the Beach

Support Coolum Surf Club

Not ready to become part of Coolum Surf Club but still want to help?

It takes a lot of money to run a surf lifesaving club; from the equipment needed on the beach (vehicles, boards, IRBs, first aid kits, defibrillators etc) to administration and training to facilitate patrolling.

So if you can't join us, support us through one of the following options.

Coolum Beach SLSC Nippers

Does your child want to become a Nipper?

Looking for a fun summer sport where your kids will learn essential surf safety skills, gain confidence in the ocean, and meet new friends?

Coolum Nippers is the answer! Nippers run from the September school holidays to February/March and is open to kids from 5 to 12 yrs.

Not only will they learn surf safety and what surf lifesaving is all about, but also have the opportunity to compete in carnivals and have mid-week training to improve their skills.
