80 years young and still patrolling, Kenny got his Bronze in 1962 at Currumbin SLSC, Gold Coast, where he is also a Life Member. He has rowed boats and raced surf skis, and has also been club champion of the 79ers

A couple of names have been bestowed upon Kenny by people who have know and respect him; “Old man of the Sea” and this classic… “000 Kenny”

Apparently on more than one occasion Kenny has ventured out with the flippers on into huge seas. One time being swept around to First Bay. Members of the public spotted him out there and called 000, and the helicopter was dispatched to save him.

Kenny probably wondered what all the fuss was about, and strolled back to Coolum Main Beach.

Kenny has also been described by others as “a gentleman with a generous spirit about him”

Kenny you are an absolute legend and we are privileged to have you as a member

Thank you for your service

Support Coolum Surf Club

Not ready to become part of Coolum Surf Club but still want to help?

It takes a lot of money to run a surf lifesaving club; from the equipment needed on the beach (vehicles, boards, IRBs, first aid kits, defibrillators etc) to administration and training to facilitate patrolling.

So if you can't join us, support us through one of the following options.

Coolum Beach SLSC Nippers
