Congrats Board Riders!

The QLD Board Riding Titles started off with typical Coolum surf conditions, with everything thrown at the team - from 3 to 4ft plus sets, unrelenting northern sweeps, 30km SSE winds, snapped long boards, rain and some competitors unable to get out the back.

While these were testing conditions it gave competitors a chance to show off their surfing skills in bigger swells

Our ten talented Coolum competitors (from cadets to masters sections) accumulated 60 points over the weekend to grab second place in the overall points tally.

The dominant club being Noosa on 106 points, with Maroochydore SLSC in third place

Standout combo scores of 13 plus were produced by Bruce D in the long board division, with Cooper W - hitting 12 or more also in this category.

On the Sunday, Toby A smashed solid combo scores in the open male short board, closely behind him in the open short board semis was younger brother Josh A. Of course the impressive Andrew brothers all made finals, bringing home medals and points galore for proud parents Emma and Shawn.

Our newest member Emily A showed her talent to make her way to an Open Long board final, grabbing bronze well done! Jake H worked his way to the open long board final - Well done Mr consistent. Just off the back of a successful Masters’s carnival, Kirk M joined the surfing team and took home two shiny bronze medals.

Thanks to our club members and families that came to support us, we really appreciated it.

Great work to our SSC branch whom provided water safety. Thanks Ben C and Shane Um. Coolum SLS officials Nicole W & Sharleen S were amazing.

The work force was lead by Swannie Life Member and Bruce D. Thanks to admin support and our Club Captain - Anth. Great back up from Ernie B on the bar, IRBs on patrol and again Bruce Dunne doing lots of heavy lifting starting at 5:30am both days with side kick Jodie W.

The positive vibe felt across the weekend by competitors, parents, officials and event organisers was the highlight of this event and there were many compliments given to our Coolum Club Volunteers.
