Buhk Wilkes Celebrations!

 

Bill Buhk and Fred Wilkes, in whose name the Trophy is dedicated to, placed great emphasis on the standard of the clubs grass roots responsibility in all aspects of Surf Lifesaving. Not just for a few months in the season, but for the entire patrolling period.

Unique to the Sunshine Coast Branch, the Buhk Wilkes Trophy is presented annually to the club that demonstrates the highest standard of proficiency both on the beach and as well as in the area of 'Administration'.

Striving for this award is an important part of the Sunshine Coast Branch's drive for patrolling excellence.

Whilst all our patrol teams did a great job in the 2022-23 season, special mention goes to the patrols that had inspections. Patrol 5 got full marks, and Patrol 7 & 12 delivered very strong results only being a few points behind.

Part of the criteria for this prestigious award includes making sure the clubs “back of house” is in order - including attendance at scheduled SLS meetings, putting effective strategic plans in place and administration effort. A big thanks and well done to the last season's fellow MC members (Ian, Anne, James, Gail, Stephen, Kathy, Greg Wh, Greg Wo, Noel and Ross B) as well as all of our officers for making this happen.

A huge thanks to Vice Club Captains Gail and Ric, to our Patrol Captains for their leadership, and every patrol member for your tireless commitment. Thanks as well to our admin team, Carla, Rhi and Jo, for ensuring our paperwork is on track and submitted on time. A job well done by all!

With this being the first time in the 38 year history that Coolum has won the Buhk Wilkes, I invite all members

I invite all members to come and celebrate at the back to patrol party in September (refer our newsletter).

Also back to Coolum Day in October will be be another occasion to mark this historical achievement.
